Teams in the Paintball World

This is a cool subject because regardless if you are on a team or not, you play because you love the sport! Teams are great for players to form a fellowship and sisterhood from all over the world that represent shared values. People (players) are proud and like to work together!

HOW DO I JOIN A TEAM?

Start by visiting a field or two and getting to know the staff and other players if you do not know any teams or other players yet. Believe it, paintball players are super friendly and cool interesting humans. They like to meet new players 100%.

Most paintball fields can point you in the right direction. I know On Target Action Park is a very friendly field; they have new equipment if you are looking to upgrade or invest for new players, and you will feel like family there. Outdoor Xtreme and Quickshot Paintball are also very cool! Most fields I know of are super cool and depending on where you live and how far you want to drive is a big deciding factor.

Also depending on what type of paintball you want to play is the next decision.

Speedball tournament style teams on a turf field with bunkers. It is fast- paced and these players use electronic high output markers. Check out the Eastern Paintball League .

Mag-Fed teams are precise and accurate. They use markers that are more realistic and are magazine fed paintballs. Mag-Fed are some of the biggest teams I have seen so far. Check out The Assassin Alliance .

Woods ball teams are a mix of different style markers, and they play in the all-terrain like mag-Fed teams.

ANSWER IS…. SURE!

SOME TEAMS CAN RANGE FROM 5 UP TO 80 OR EVEN 100 MEMBERS OR MORE!!! Just grab your friends that like to play and want to join and there you go!!

You can come up with a cool name and create a logo. **** IMPORTANT**** When you decide on a name and get the artwork for your team logo. To definitely save time and $, you will want to get your logo in a vector format at Sticker Mule . Most every legit company requires this format to have your team logo printed or on apparel or even patches. Sticker Mule has stickers and other products as well. In addition, you will want better quality logo pictures for social media.

Well, besides all of the major improvements we are putting into our playing fields, staging areas, food vendors, and pro-shop. OTP has collaborated with Drills for Skills Sports Training to offer an online fitness challenge for paintball players local and across the US to help achieve a higher level of endurance and even prepare for physically demanding events!

Not to mention this is beneficial for your health and well-being!

This challenge is specifically designed for paintball athletes! The goal for this challenge is to achieve the maximal amount of progress toward your fitness goals within a short period of time (30 days)!

That is right! Just 30 days… This challenge is based on a progressive workout program in which each week will provide more of a workload for you to push through, ultimately creating a stronger, fitter, and healthier human!

Wednesday Night Lights

Wednesday Night Lights has started!

Wednesday Night's Under the Lights is back. Our seasonal hours started March 8th. 2023 and run through November 2023.

Open play and rentals available. Woodsball until dusk!

On Wednesday Nights, price covers woodsball and speedball field admission. Bon fires, music, paint and admission specials.

We are making improvements to Paintball and Airsoft staging areas, lighting, fields, and customer experience.

More food trucks and FATZ BBQ coming soon.

We have Turok here with us, a Mag-Fed player who’s not afraid to bring his A game to the speedball field to give his players a run for their money! He shares with us the benefits of keeping a level and clear mind, as well as how playing with paint can be therapeutic.

Suicide rates within the armed forces are definitely increasing and this Man here is doing his hardest to bring more people out to this field to alleviate that stress and pain, and you too can help spread the word. How Fast is a Paintball?

(Jen) So there are many questions about extreme sports, but one of the questions that comes up in the extreme sport of paintball is, “How darn fast is the paintball going that’s coming at me?”

I know that was one of my top questions when visiting my first paintball park. “It’s legit, right?” It can be very intimidating thinking about flying paintballs going 90 MPS (Meters Per Second), but rest assured millions of people play and get hit by them so there’s nothing to worry about!

Plus you're wearing protective equipment and you can definitely armor up so those flying balls don’t hurt so bad. Also, your adrenaline is pumping and that is a scientific pain reliever. Here are some fun Facts: The traveling time/distance of paintball leaving a paintball marker is approximately 90 MPS (300 FPS(Feet Per Second)). Most paintball fields restrict the speed to 280 FPS, and small indoor fields may further restrict it down to 250FPS ( Paintball marker - Wikipedia )

Why are there restrictions?

The purpose of these restrictions is to protect you, the player, from any kind of accident that may occur while on the field. Accidents may occur if the rules and regulations of the field are not being followed. These rules can be found by each field ref or in their pro shop. How Can You Tell if Your Paintballs Are Still Good to Use

Well, of course there’s an expected sell by date or made date on almost everything.

I think honey is the only food item that doesn’t go bad!

How about paintballs? Yep! Even paintballs can go bad if they are sitting too long! How can you tell without jamming up your marker or balls breaking before they even make it out of your barrel?

Well, the funny thing is you can test your paintballs, and save your paintball marker and time wasted on the field finding out sooner than later is the key!

So here’s the trick……..

Hold a paintball waist high, chest high if you're shorter, Drop the ball to the ground on a hard floor..

Concrete, or a hard surface.

If the paintball bounces at least 2 or 3 times it should be good ( test about 4 or 5 balls just to be sure)

If the paintball breaks on first or second bounce it’s too brittle and will break in your marker

If 4 out of 5 paintballs you tested more broke than not, you might want to go ahead and buy paint to use.

To extend longevity of your paint you can rotate the bags or case and also avoid dimples in your paintballs

What To Know Before Playing Airsoft For The First Time

If you are looking to get into airsoft or sharpen up the basics, there are a few key things you want to keep in mind. Airsoft fields and airsoft stores in NJ operate a lot differently in comparison to backyard games that you might be used to. Here are some great tips that you may or may not know that you will see frequently at a professional airsoft field.

Holding Your Marker Properly

This is a tip that can be used universally between airsoft and paintball. It is important to hold your marker correctly to ensure you minimize how much of your body is exposed and can shoot accurately. Many players who are inexperienced poke out their elbow or “chicken wing” that allows the other team to be able to hit your dominant arm very easily. Elbows should always be tucked down into your side with a minimal amount exposed beyond the cover. Trigger discipline is essential as well. When moving around the field, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and not shoot everything that moves. A lack of trigger discipline can cause a player on the same team to get hit or another player to be overshot.

Always Empty Your Magazines

Some players may argue this really shouldn’t even be considered a tip. A lot of people leave the magazines filled for their next game or outing of play. This isn’t the best idea. BBs resting in your magazine for an extended period of time can put more stress on the spring. We’d recommend keeping the magazines unloaded if you don’t play on using them during the day they are loaded up. Un-winded high-capacity magazines don’t really face this issue, but loaded mid-capacity magazines can surely face trouble with their springs over a long period of time.

Proper Footwear

Many airsoft fields have various terrains. Some are built upon the flat ground with various bunkers scattered throughout. Others are built in the middle of the woods with the uneven ground to run across. Footwear that has good ankle support, durability, and able to handle the outdoors is important to have on your feet. Good footwear will allow you to easily move around the field and keep your ankles from getting rolled out constantly.

Understand The Field

This may be difficult if it is your first time going to an airsoft field. However, it is still possible to understand the fields before you go. Certain fields are played differently and have different points of contact. Many airsoft fields of websites where you can get peaks of the fields you might be playing on. Also, it is always a good idea to take the far side before the game starts. Your team will be able to take a look at the field while taking the walk over to your spawn point. This can help you get a feel for the field as well as plan with your teammates.

Whether you are traveling to a new place or trying out a new hobby, the excitement can have some anxiety mixed into it. If you have never visited an NJ paintball field before or played paintball, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you out so you enjoy every minute of it.

Take It Slow

A lot of game modes you will play during open public games will not have respawns. With this being said, take it slow. Rushing around the field will make it hard to take in the experience and leave you covered in paint on the sideline. Until you get your bearings, it is good to take it slow and listen to your team so you can understand the strategy behind it all. Paintball is very competitive at times. A great competitive game will lead to the most fun on the field.

Communication & Positioning

Communication and positioning are extremely important. A team that communicates with one another will have an easier time covering each other’s backs and avoid situations where a teammate unknowingly runs into an opposing player. You should always make sure to yell out if you see any movement or pushes going on. Positioning is key as well. You want to limit your exposure as much as possible. Keeping your body low when moving from cover to cover will help keep you in the match way longer than running standing up.

Understanding Your Paintball Marker

Usually, paintball fields offer different kinds of paintball rental packages. Each paintball package includes a marker, an ammo belt, and a mask. The difference between each package pertains to how many paintballs and what paintball marker you receive. Before going to a field, look into a field’s rental packages and see the difference between each paintball marker. In many cases, a higher rental package will be worth the extra money to have a more reliable and powerful paintball marker.

Have Fun

It may sound cliche, but as always make sure you have fun! Whether you are coming out for a private paintball party with family or a public paintball match with friends, it is important to leave the field with memories. A paintball field has great communities to discover and connect with while out on the field. It is more just about wins and losses. It is about people sharing a common interest and getting to know each other through that common interest.

How Did Paintball Start?

Charles Gaines, a writer and avid outdoorsman, and Hayes Noel, a Wall Street broker and city-dweller, had many drunken arguments as best friends do. A frequent argument that occurred was could a city person survive in the woods when facing a seasoned hunter? After the argument came up enough times, Charles, Hayes, and a few friends decided to settle the argument by having the first paintball game in the woods of New Hampshire in 1981.

The First Paintball Marker

Before paintball markers were present at paintball fields in NJ and all over the internet, paintball markers were a failed invention by Charles Nelson of the Nelson Paint Company. The idea for the invention came about by coming up with a way to mark trees that needed to be cut down more effectively. Nelson designed many iterations of the first paintball marker in the early 1960s through to the 1970s. After failed manufacturing partnerships and a lack of belief in the invention, the first paintball marker produced at scale was the Nel-Spot 007 by Nelson and Daisy, a BB gun company.

The Nel-Spot 007 was primitive for its time. The marker had to be recocked every time and could only fire up to 12 paintballs before needing more air. However, the style is still popular today with pump action paintball markers.

The First Paintball Company

Bob Gurnsey, a person in Nelson’s friend group, wrote the rules for the first organized paintball game, which was very similar to capture the flag… with paintball markers of course. After his friend group settled the debate and had the first organized paintball game, Guernsey went on to start the first paintball company. He titled the company the National Survival Game Company. He partnered up with Nelson and started making a profit by setting up paintball fields around the country and selling gear.

Over time, new technology and rival companies appeared very quickly. Air cartridges on markers were replaced with air tanks that could hold much more air. Paintballs themselves were evolving as well. Paintballs switched from an oil base to vegetable oil and gelatin in the 80s that is still used today. Markers continue to evolve throughout the years. Today, paintball markers incorporate all kinds of technology that allow for different firing speeds, trigger sensitivity, and much more. Due to the rate of fire increasing, magazines were largely swapped out for hoppers that could hold a way higher amount of paintballs.

However, many players still prefer the old style of markers and can be seen used commonly today. Pump action paintball markers are still very popular and offer up a new challenge for players. Magfed & mil-sim paintball communities sprang up across fields all over the country that still utilize the magazine system to emulate a more realistic experience.
